New rules on increasing the levels of Stamp Duty Land Tax are being implemented to come in from 01 April 2016, subject to consultation
The rules apply to second/ additional homes or the buy-to-let sector. The use of the property is irrelevant. The rates of SDLT will be at 3% above the current SDLT rates.
We are still awaiting confirmation if this 3% additional rate will apply to the current 0% band of £125K. Also, currently no anti-forestalling measures have been announced but we are keeping our eye on developments as they are announced.
