Taxable Benefits-Abolishment of £8500.00 Limit

1st February 2016

Currently Directors and higher paid employees pay tax on benefits such as cars, BUPA etc. If an employee earns below £8500.00 then the benefits would not be taxed on the employee.

From 6th April, all employees will pay tax on their benefits as this £8500.00 limit is being abolished.

There are a few exemptions from this for ‘live in carers’ or ministers of religion but in general this will need to be considered moving forward if you receive benefits.
